Marvel Minimates Wave 1 Chase - Black Elektra

Here we have a pack containing the Man Without Fear, Daredevil (in his first yellow costume) and his love interest, the lovely Greek assassin Elektra, who is the chase figure for the 1st wave and appears here in her black outfit. As I have already reviewed the first yellow Daredevil (with the red costumed Elektra) this review will concentrate only on Black Elektra.

Packaging

The packaging, like other Minimate sets, is very cool, with the Daredevil logo along the side of the card. The figures are packed in a bubble tray, and have twist-ties holding them in, as well as clear elastic bands holding their arms to their sides.

Daredevil and Elektra trapped together

Overall, the look is very clear, with Daredevil's yellow contrasting nicely with the black and light blue of the card. Elektra in black doesn't offer quite as good a contrast.

The Figure

Elektra (Black)

The chase figure in the first wave of Marvel Minimates is Elektra, Daredevil's sometime love interest and an assassin for hire. Here she is wearing her black outfit. The only change from the original red figure is the colour of the costume and her hat, she has no changed details or remolded pieces.

Elektra has a brilliantly detailed face, with very expressive eyes and full lips. Her hair and hat are one piece which can be removed from her head. The hair cascading down her back looks great but does hinder her neck movement, as she cannot look left or right very easily.

The paint application on this chase figure seems slightly better than on the red Elektra. Her upper body is fine, with nice touches such as having one gloved hand, which works really well visually, and the paint detailing on her lower half doesn't seem quite as blotchy as the previous figure, but there are still some sloppy lines.

For accessories, just like the red Elektra, this figure comes with twin Sai's, which look great, and she also has a skirt, which can get in the way of some poses.

Overall, the Black Elektra figure is very good, of course, everyone looks cooler in black. I slightly prefer this figure over the regular figure, but both are worth having.

MMC Score - 8 and a half out of 10
